THE JAMAVAR STORY
Woven in Craft
Expressed Through Flavour.
Jamavar takes its name from the storied shawls of Kashmir, an enduring symbol of craftsmanship, precision and time-honoured artistry.
These values shape everything we do: from the depth and balance of our cuisine to the care with which we welcome each guest, creating an experience defined by detail, restraint and quiet excellence.
CHAPTER ONE
A Refined
Expression of India
India’s culinary landscape is shaped by region, season and centuries of tradition. At Jamavar, we present a considered expression, defined by depth, balance and restraint.
Our cuisine is a culinary journey across the Indian subcontinent, from the royal kitchens of the North to the coastal cuisines of the South. Every region has whispered its secrets to our kitchen. Each dish is rooted in authenticity, shaped with precision and restraint.
“Indian cooking reveals itself in layers - shaped by time, guided by tradition, and brought to life with care.”
— The Jamavar Kitchen Philosophy
CHAPTER TWO
A Legacy
of Hospitality
Jamavar was conceived by the founding family of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts – a name long associated with India’s finest traditions of luxury and hospitality.
The first Jamavar opened in 2001 at The Leela Palace Bengaluru, created with a singular vision: to present the depth and diversity of Indian cuisine in a setting defined by elegance, precision and care. It quickly became a destination in its own right, recognised both in India and internationally.
Today, under the guidance of Dinesh and Samyukta Nair, Jamavar continues to evolve as an expression of that original vision – bringing together culinary heritage, refined technique and a philosophy of hospitality that is both instinctive and deeply considered.
CHAPTER THREE
At Home in
the Heart of Mayfair
In 2016, Jamavar opened in London, bringing its refined expression of Indian cuisine to Mayfair, one of the world’s most discerning dining destinations. Set on Mount Street, the restaurant reflects a commitment to craft, detail and understated elegance, both in its cuisine and its setting.
Awarded a Michelin star in 2022, Jamavar London stands as a testament to its pursuit of excellence and its place within the city’s most distinguished dining destinations. Building on this foundation, Jamavar expanded internationally to Doha and Dubai, with each restaurant also being recognised with a Michelin star, reflecting a shared commitment to precision, care and refined Indian hospitality.
In 2026, Jamavar London marks ten years in Mayfair, a decade defined by craft, consistency and an enduring commitment to excellence.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
The three pillars
of our kitchen
01
Craft
The Jamavar shawl takes months to weave, one thread at a time. We aspire to the same standard in our cooking — intricate, considered, and ultimately extraordinary.
02
Warmth
Indian hospitality is legendary for its warmth. We carry this in our culture — every guest is treated as family, and every meal is an occasion worth celebrating.
03
Memory
Every dish we serve carries the memory of a region, a grandmother's kitchen, a street stall at dusk. We cook with nostalgia as our compass and refinement as our guide.
