THE JAMAVAR STORY

Woven from

the finest threads.

Jamavar takes its name from the exquisite shawls of Kashmir — an art form that demands patience, mastery, and an unwavering reverence for beauty. It is a fitting name for a restaurant that aspires to the same.

CHAPTER ONE

Born of a

subcontinent’s

richness

India’s culinary heritage is among the most complex and layered on earth, a tapestry of regions, religions, seasons and spices that no single menu could ever fully contain. But at Jamavar, we try.

From the saffron-laced biryanis of Lucknow to the tamarind-sharp curries of coastal Goa, from the tandoor-fired breads of the Northwest Frontier to the delicate rice dishes of Bengal, every region of the subcontinent has whispered its secrets to our kitchen.

Our roots lie in the legendary Jamavar restaurants of the Leela Palace Hotels across India, places where royalty once dined and where the true spirit of Indian hospitality was first defined.

"Great Indian cooking is an act of love — slow, attentive, and impossibly generous. It demands respect for every ingredient, every spice, every generation that taught us how."

— The Jamavar Kitchen Philosophy

CHAPTER TWO

A Legacy

of Hospitality

Jamavar was conceived by the founding family of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts – a name long associated with India’s finest traditions of luxury and hospitality.

The first Jamavar opened in 2001 at The Leela Palace Bengaluru, created with a singular vision: to present the depth and diversity of Indian cuisine in a setting defined by elegance, precision and care. It quickly became a destination in its own right, recognised both in India and internationally.

Today, under the guidance of Dinesh and Samyukta Nair, Jamavar continues to evolve as an expression of that original vision – bringing together culinary heritage, refined technique and a philosophy of hospitality that is both instinctive and deeply considered.

CHAPTER THREE

India’s culinary heritage,

on the Doha Corniche.

Doha is a city where deep cultural tradition meets a confident global outlook, a balance that closely reflects Jamavar’s own philosophy. Located within the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, a landmark along the city’s Corniche, the restaurant draws on a setting defined by both history and presence.

Since opening in 2021, Jamavar Doha has brought a considered approach to Indian fine dining, shaped by decades of experience and the evolution of the brand internationally. In December 2024, the MICHELIN Guide welcomed Doha into its global selection, with Jamavar recognised as one of only two restaurants in the city to receive a star.
