Our Story

Our Story

Taking its name from the intricate 16th-century Jamavar shawls of Kashmir, Jamavar is a palatial Indian fine-dining concept rooted in heritage and craftsmanship. It was created by the founding family of The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts in India, with a vision to present India’s culinary traditions through a refined and contemporary lens.

The first Jamavar opened in 2001 at The Leela Palace Bengaluru, conceptualised by Dinesh Nair, where it quickly gained critical and international acclaim. Among its early recognitions, the restaurant was named one of the World’s Top 10 Power Dining Spots by Forbes USA. Over the following years, Jamavar expanded across five additional cities in India, establishing itself as a benchmark for luxurious pan-Indian dining.

In 2016, Jamavar made its international debut with the opening of Jamavar London on Mayfair’s iconic Mount Street, led by LSL Capital, the hospitality venture founded by Dinesh and Samyukta Nair. The restaurant soon became an integral part of London’s culinary landscape and was awarded a Michelin star in the Great Britain & Ireland Michelin Guide 2022.

This was followed by the opening of Jamavar Doha in 2021, located within the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel in partnership with Katara Hospitality, and Jamavar Dubai in 2024, situated at Address Residences, Downtown Dubai. Today, all three international outposts are recognised with a Michelin star, reflecting a shared commitment to culinary excellence and refined hospitality.

Across continents, Jamavar represents the culmination of decades of experience in luxury hospitality – an international collection of Indian fine dining restaurants shaped by the vision of Dinesh and Samyukta Nair, and celebrated for its depth of flavour, elegance of setting, and enduring connection to India’s rich culinary heritage.
