An Homage To Our Heritage

From his humble beginnings in India to the international recognition achieved today, we at Jamavar London are paying homage to the Nair Family patriarch, Captain C.P. Krishnan Nair, with an honest, entertaining and deeply researched biography written by Bachi Karkaria.

Captain Krishnan Nair

Stretching back to the 1950s, when Captain Krishnan Nair, set up Leela Scottish Lace, a lace-manufacturing business named after his wife, Leela, and worked in handspun Indian yarn — a precursor to his now iconic Bleeding Madras. Later, at the age of 65, Captain Nair’s ambitious and visionary heart led him to establish his first luxury hotel in Mumbai. The Nair family nurtured that first hotel into a world renowned hospitality brand: The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, eight magnificent hotels famed internationally as beacons of Indian luxury.

Its deep-rooted Indian traditions, perseverance, hard work, dreams and aspirations provided Indian hospitality with an international platform and the recognition of being among the best in the world.

Join us as part of his centenary birth year celebrations and embark on an epicurean journey with Capture the Dream: The Many Lives of Captain C.P. Krishnan Nair, where passion for hospitality and joie de vivre awaits you at every turn.
